Each adventure week has a different theme which informs our destinations, activities, music, crafts, reading, and games. Often there are clues or puzzles for the campers to find and figure out before moving on to the next location. We aim for a healthy balance of organized activities and guided free play/exploration time in interesting and varied locations.
Join us for
Nature Time: hiking, exploring, boating, fishing, and more

Playground Visits: lots of playgrounds in the surrounding areas, some old favorites and new ones each summer
Music: an important part of each day - singing familiar songs, and creating new ones!

Summer 2018 Adventures We will again be running three weeks of camp this summer.
Birds, Beasts, and Bugs (June 4 – June 8) A fun combination of our favorite 'Animal Adventures' and 'Birds, Bugs, and Backwaters' sites. This week we'll check in at some of our favorite animal spots, including Witty Kitties and Grandma Micki's Farm. We'll also visit the Raptor Center, and have a backyard visit with Grandma Joan and her raptors, a great horned owl, kestrel, turkey vulture, and red-tailed hawk. Lots of swimming, time in nature, animal songs, games, and crafts, and other camp activities as well.
Fossils, Fields, and Forests (June 11 – June 15) This week's adventures will include the Devonian Fossil Gorge, Clam-Shellica (near the Iowa River & Power Bridge), and a trip to the UI Museums. We'll also visit a number of fields and farms, including Scattergood and Draco Hill Farms, as well as our usual parks and preserves, swimming spots, and libraries. The week will also include a creek walk, treasure/scavenger hunt, and lots of fossil and farm-themed art and music.
Wind, Waves, and Water (June 18 – June 22) As the summer heats up, Outdoor Adventures heads to the water to cool down and explore. We'll be adventuring in and around various water spots; lakes, rivers, pools, splash-pads, streams, and creek-beds, as well as sailing in kayaks, pontoon boats, and hopefully a sailboat, and building and launching rafts of various kinds! The week will also include building and flying kites, fishing, exploration of Iowa's marine life, and lots of water-themed art and music.
