We aim for a healthy balance of organized activities and guided free play/exploration time in interesting and varied locations.
Join us for
Nature Time: hiking, exploring, boating, fishing, and more
Water Time: swimming in lakes, exploring river banks, creek walks and island hopping
Library Visits: on hot days we often visit a local library - reading is fun, and it lets the kids relax out of the hot sun
Snacks and Lunch: refueling is mandatory
Playground Visits: lots of playgrounds in the surrounding areas, some old favorites and new ones each summer
Music: an important part of each day - singing familiar songs, and creating new ones!
Art: themed projects often reflect where we've been that day and use materials we've found along the way - often done in beautiful park settings
Educational Visits: farms, gardens, parks, historical sites, and more
Summer 2019 Adventures We will be running two weeks of camp this summer.
Jump into Summer! (June 3 – June 6, ages 5-12) A fun combination of some of our favorite spots to kickstart your summer adventures. Lots of swimming, time in nature, animals, games, crafts, and other camp activities as well. This is a 4-day camp, as Marc is heading off to his 25th College Reunion on Friday June 7.
Fossils, Forests, and Fun (June 10 – June 14) This week's adventures will include the Devonian Fossil Gorge, Clam-Shellica (near the Iowa River & Power Bridge), and a trip to Scattergood Farm. We'll also visit local parks and playgrounds, and may take a trip to visit Grandma Joan and her birds at Raptology. This week will be aimed at the younger set, ages 4-9, with activities and pacing planned accordingly. Older campers are welcome to join in a Junior Counselor role.
